Amboseli 1 Day Trip Package Itinerary

0500hrs: The Amboseli 1 Day Trip safari starts from Nairobi before dawn and drive south west towards the Tanzanian border. You will drive on the A109 up to email town and turn off right into oloitoktok road.

0700hrs: Drive through the Kapiti plains as you watch the Kenyan countryside and the animals by the road side. The animals by the road include the gazelles, impalas, giraffes, zebras and many more. You will be able to see country folk go by their business by dawn. The Amboseli 1 day trip drive is very scenic.

0900hrs: Your vehicle will arrive at the Erimito or Kimana gate and you can start your Amboseli 1 day trip game drive. Your view of Kilimanjaro will start from far away from the park. Your driver will stop to allow you take afew pictures before the mountain disappears in the clouds again. Have a hot breakfast and start your game drive in the park.

10:00hrs: Continue with your game drive as you watch the hundreds of elephant herds feeding on water grass in the water. The bulls will be sparring while the mothers with young are nursing. An occasional hippo gets out of the water and bellow as his frineds in the water keep yawning all day. If you are lucky, you could stumble on a lion kill of a hippo by the water.

Animals to see in Amboseli include some group of cheetahs resting in a tree shade, a pride of lions resting in a puddle of water or inside a deep gulley. The wildebeest are also frolicking in the plains and if its between January to march, they have brown calves all over the plains as it’s the calving season. The hyenas are very active as they prey on the young calves and the sickly wildebeests.

The buffalos keep to their large herds with an exception of breakaway males who are know to be temperamental and very dangerous. One mean look and it will tell you are safe at a further distance than you might be. The impala alpha male will stand on an anthill overseeing his harem of 20 odd females, always ready to wade off the incessant assault from challengers for the throne.

1300hrs: Go for a buffet lunch at the Serena lodge inside Amboseli. This lodge is very beautiful with its Masai themed architecture of round edges and red ochre colour with lavishly decorated interiors. The lunch is a different experience by itself in your Amboseli 1 day tour package.

1400hrs: It’s time to make a last minute effort to find the elusive cats and hopefully leopard. You will have an extra 1hr to do a further game drive in Amboseli.

1500hrs: Exit the Amboseli national park for your drive back to Nairobi. There is not much to see in your drive back and you can use the time to sleep off the fatigue of being in the car for the whole day.

1630hrs: Drop off in your Nairobi hotel after a great Amboseli 1 day safari.
